Present: Todd Hofacre, Ryan Woolley, Jeff Hummel, Ed Hunter, Monica Kohler-Krebs
Meeting Minutes: Last month minutes reviewed and approved by all present
Membership: New volunteer pending; 2 new members, bringing us to 134 total members
Newsletter: Need featured runner for Winter Issue, Consider using a new member as a featured runner.
Website: RCGC blog updated; new project include archiving old newsletters to website; discussed updating photos and removing or updating survey page which is outdated
Social:
Holiday in Lights Run – specifics are taken care of; date is Tues, Dec 9th at 6:30 beginning from Williams YMCA. Refreshments follow afterward at O’Bryons. Ed volunteered to be the photographer for the evening.
Holiday Party – Swaim Park Lodge – Sat, Jan 3, 2009 at the lodge at Swaim Park in Montgomery. Include a “white elephant” gift exchange. Guests welcome. RCGC will provide meat and beverages (beer). Members: First name A-L please bring a dessert, M-Z please bring a side dish, salad or vegetable. Due to space we are limited to 50 participants, please RSVP by Dec 29th.
Races:
Great Bearcat Run – Recap: well attended; income to RCGC $150, additional revenue will be donated to UC Running Club, ~ $981; goal for next year is to a) get info out sooner to increase participation b) free parking access, and c) improved area for registration.
Reindeer Romp – Sat, December 13: - Crosby Township Senior Center; both 5K and 10K distances; need 3-4 volunteers to help with timing.
Valentine Day Race – February 15, 2009 – at Northern Kentucky University; the NKU XCountry team is planning course and promoting and race day registration; RCGC responsible for race numbers, packet pick-up, timing. T-shirts and Awards responsibility is undecided.
Heart Mini-Marathon: - Need a volunteer to plan effort. Reservations for the suite at the Westin need to be made in January.
Flying Pig Marathon: Kick Off Breakfast December 3, 2008 at 8:00 AM; Todd will attend to show support and get information.
Memorial Day Race: - Waiting to hear from Clifton about interest to bring it back to Mt. Storm Park; discussed other locations like Miami Whitewater; and the possibility of different distances (5 miler v. 5K) to distinguish it from the other memorial day races?
Brewery Run: - There is talk of someone wanting to resurrect this run; Todd will look into club’s possible involvement, legal standing and details.
Group Runs: 1) Clifton run - Future doubtful due to few attendees, 2) Hyde Park continues in the Winter, 3) Mt. Adams possibility on Sundays.
Miscellaneous: 1) The Fitness Store wants to offer discount to RCGC members, Todd will follow-up with them; 2) Todd has membership forms available for goody bags for area races.
Next Board Meeting: Jan 3, 6pm before the Holiday Party at Swaim Park Lodge.
